Paul E. Sweeny Obituary - December 25, 2018

Paul E. Sweeny, 94 of Holiday, FL, died on December 25, 2018 at his home. Born in Upland, PA, Paul was predeceased by his first wife of 31 years, Catherine Taylor Sweeny; his parents, two brothers and a sister. He moved to Illinois with his family in 1970. Paul worked for BP Chemicals as a Chemical Technician in Plastics, retiring in 1988 and moving to Holiday, FL. He was faithful servant of His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ since 1944 at Norfolk, VA. Paul was active in the various churches he attended, including the Choir, Sunday School and as a part of the Lawn Crew. During WWII, he served as a Communication Expert in the US Navy on the Mine Sweeper USS Pheasant (AM61) at the invasion of Normandy. Paul in survived by his wife of 31 years, Ruth Q. Sweeny; his children, Nancy Stetter (Walter), Paul C. Sweeny (Ellen), Jean Adams (William), David Sweeny (Laura) and Robert Sweeny (Sandi); 14 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. Funeral Service 10:00AM Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park where friends may call after 9:00AM. Burial Lawn Croft Cemetery. Mercedita Paronda Hillesheim Obituary

Mercedita went home to be with the lord on Friday May 19th. She died peacefully with family members at her side after a long battle with ovarian cancer.

She will be remembered for her cheerful, happy and gentle personality. Mercedita was a loving mother, loyal friend and would do anything to support or help family. She loved playing cards and visiting with friends and was active in the Yuma Santo Nino society before her illness.

Mercedita came to Yuma in 1981 worked as a Spinner Operator at Shaw Flooring Company and was a homemaker.

She is survived by her loving husband Phil of Yuma, daughter Heidie Lyn (husband Matthew) Sweeny, grandchildren Hailey Lyn, Gabriel and Kaitlyn Sweeny. Additionally, she has brothers and sisters in the Philippines and her sister Hermegilda Rivas (husband Rudy) of San Diego.

Visitation will be at Sunset Vista Funeral Home, 11357 E. 40th Street, Yuma on Wednesday May 24 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 11545 E. 40th Street, Yuma at 9:00 am on Thursday May 25th.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Yuma.
